The British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE) is delighted to announce Criticker as the official sponsor of the Hidden Gem Award at the 2025 BASE Awards – the biggest celebration of the UK Home Entertainment industry – taking place on Thursday 13 November at the Roundhouse, London.
An independent film recommendation platform, Criticker has been helping film fans discover their next great watch since 2005. Built around a unique algorithm known as the Taste Compatibility Index (TCI), the platform matches users with others who share similar sensibilities, offering scarily accurate predictions of what you’ll love next. With over 21 million ratings, 100,000 verified users, and more than 2,000 new reviews added daily, Criticker is a haven for cinephiles – and is growing faster than ever.
What is the Hidden Gem Award?
The Hidden Gem is part of the People’s Choice category at the BASE Awards – one of the chances for fans, not judges, to spotlight a standout title that captured hearts and imaginations, regardless of its sales or box office stats. Whether it’s a tender indie drama, a surreal comedy, or a daring documentary, the Hidden Gem is the film you couldn’t stop talking about – and couldn’t believe more people hadn’t seen.
Voting is now OPEN for any title released transactionally in the UK between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025 – from our curated list or via your own personal pick. The top 10 titles will be revealed ahead of a final round of public voting to crown this year’s Hidden Gem. Vote here.
