London, Wednesday 15th October 2025 – The British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE) is delighted to announce that Ayo Akinwolere, multiple BAFTA nominee and RTS Award winner, will return as host of the 45th Anniversary BASE Awards on Thursday 13 November 2025 at the Roundhouse, London.
Four years in, Ayo feels like family. His effortless mix of wit, warmth and razor-sharp timing has become part of the show’s DNA — the kind of presence that keeps the room buzzing, stitches the night together, and makes every winner’s walk-up feel like the theme tune to their own highlight reel. With the Awards marking 45 years of BASE, Ayo’s energy is the perfect bridge between legacy and right-now relevance.
Ayo is an award-winning BBC journalist, presenter and podcaster, with 15+ years of broadcasting across the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, CBS and Paramount+. He brings curiosity, intelligence and ease to every stage he steps on.
Liz Bales, Chief Executive at BASE, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Ayo back for our sapphire year. He brings heart, humour and an instinctive understanding of this community — the industry’s successes, the craft behind the scenes and the joy of being together. There’s no one better to lead the celebration of 45 years of home entertainment.”
This year’s show will nod to the sparkle and swagger of the 80s — the era that saw home entertainment explode — while championing the innovation and creativity powering the sector today. Expect something new and high-energy in a room united by the stories we all love.
