Amazon Prime Video, Artemisia Films, Lightbulb Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, STUDIOCANAL, Universal Pictures, The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. Discovery lead the charge as the BASE Awards mark 45 years of Home Entertainment

14th November 2025 LONDON: Last night, the 45th annual BASE Awards lit up Camden’s iconic Roundhouse, celebrating another year of success, talent, hard work, and collaboration across the £5.1 billion UK Home Entertainment industry, while also marking the 45th anniversary of the trade association.

Marking a milestone year for the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE), the 2025 Awards brought together over 550 industry colleagues to recognise innovation, commercial impact, and the cultural significance of Home Entertainment. The evening honoured excellence across 30 categories, recognising the campaigns, creative teams, and individuals shaping the future of transactional entertainment in the UK .

The coveted Distributor of the Year award was presented to Warner Bros. Discovery for the third consecutive year, following the phenomenal success of DUNE: PART TWO, which also claimed VOD, Physical, and overall Title of the Year 2024.

Universal Pictures led multiple categories, including Campaign of the Year (Over £15m Box Office) for WICKED and Campaign of the Year (up to £5m Box Office) for ANORA.

Sony Pictures Entertainment took home Best in Class: Video Asset for GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE alongside Silk Factory and Best in Class: Social/PR for their work on VENOM: THE LAST DANCE alongside DnA PR and DDA PR Global.

STUDIOCANAL’s creative and commercial momentum was reflected in a host of wins, including Campaign of the Year for Independent Film for THE APPRENTICE, Best in Class: Packaging & Artwork for THE THIRD MAN, and Best in Class: Blu-Ray (incl. 4K) for SEVEN SAMURAI.

The People’s Choice Awards were again voted for by both the industry and the general public. The Hidden Gem Award, celebrating the title that best captured the audience’s imagination irrespective of commercial performance, and sponsored this year by Criticker, found a worthy winner in Lightbulb Films’ HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS.

The tightly contested Digital Retailer of the Year was awarded to Amazon Prime Video, recognising their pioneering approach to Home Entertainment which sees transactional positioned in complement to subscription, and which is being expanded at speed across international territories. Physical Retailer of the Year was awarded to hmv, celebrating the brand’s sustained success and cultural influence on the high street. With multiple wins over the past decade, hmv continues to reflect the resurgence of premium physical products and the brand’s unique ability to engage new generations of fans.

Make It Social snapped up Agency of the Year, a first BASE Awards win, and an acknowledgement of their client impacts amid the ever-changing social media landscape.

The Best in Class: Producer’s Award, celebrating the perseverance, ingenuity and innovation of those who believed in an idea which ultimately came to fruition, was won by Chuck Chuck Baby, Artemisia Films.

Celebrating 45 Years of Home Entertainment

In a special 45th anniversary moment, the industry and public voted “I am your father” from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) as the Entertainment Moment of the last 45 Years, capturing the magic and legacy of Home Entertainment across generations.

Returning for its second year, the BASE & DEGI Hedy Lamarr Inspirational Women in Entertainment: Rising Star Award shone a spotlight on four outstanding women whose leadership, creativity and commitment represent the future of our industry: Abiana Garret (The Walt Disney Company), Hannah Sayer (MUBI), Susanne Maria Schmidt (STUDIOCANAL) and Julia Negretti (Paramount Pictures). The 2025 award was presented to Julia Negretti, recognised for her drive, operational excellence, and contribution to cross-market collaboration.

Inspired by the annual DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group Hedy Lamarr Award for Innovation in Entertainment Technology in the U.S., the BASE & DEGI award celebrates women shaping the future of entertainment across both creative and technical disciplines. All four shortlisted nominees will receive mentoring from a member of the Entertainment Mentoring and Leadership Group — an initiative designed to foster connection, share experience, and help build greater representation across the global screen industry.

The Category Hero Awards also returned in 2025, celebrating 12 exceptional individuals across Positive Impact, Leadership, Creative Excellence and Sales & Operations – recognising those whose passion and expertise power this industry every day. Congratulations to all the 2025 winners, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it happen.”
